Gregory plans on launching the Tuskegee Startup Fund to support local small businesses while activating Opportunity Zones to revitalize R.E.A.L. Park. Additionally, a new “Hire Macon First” partnership with Tuskegee University and trade schools will ensure our residents have access to essential job training and employment opportunities.
Our plan includes a Road & Bridge Accountability Map, broadband treated as a utility with access for every household, and the Clean Macon effort to remove blight and illegal dumping.
Modernizing transit with scheduled routes, an I-85 Workforce Shuttle to Montgomery, Auburn, and Opelika, and a mobile app for seamless ride booking and tracking.
Revitalize parks & after-school STEM and arts programs. Commissioner's Youth Council & internship pipeline.
Candidate Profile
Gregory “Farmer” Smith is a servant leader whose life has been defined by discipline, hard work, and a deep commitment to community. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Gregory retired as a First Sergeant after 20 years of honorable service, where he led, mentored, and developed soldiers while upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability. His leadership earned the respect of both his peers and superiors, as he consistently took on challenging assignments and delivered results.
After returning home, Gregory brought that same dedication to Macon County. As a local business owner and managing operator of Smith’s Farm & Ranch, he has focused on creating opportunities, supporting local agriculture, and investing in the economic growth of the Black Belt. His work is rooted in a simple belief: strong communities are built through hard work, shared responsibility, and access to opportunity.
Gregory is not just a leader—he is a neighbor, a mentor, and a family man. He has spent years pouring into the next generation through coaching, mentorship, and community involvement, always leading by example and encouraging others to rise.
Now, Gregory is ready to take that experience to the next level by serving as Macon County Commissioner for District 2. His vision is centered on restoration, opportunity, and pride—working to strengthen infrastructure, support local businesses, and ensure that every family in Macon County has the opportunity to thrive.
